Frequently asked questions
The app says it can't access the microphone
Cry Translate needs the microphone permission to listen to your baby's cry. If you declined it, re-enable it in your device settings:
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security →
Microphone → enable Cry Translate.
Android: Settings → Apps → Cry Translate
→ Permissions → Microphone → Allow.
Audio is analysed on your phone in memory only — it is never stored or uploaded unless you explicitly share a recording.
When do my free analyses reset?
The free tier includes 3 analyses per day. The counter resets at midnight in your device's local time zone. For unlimited analyses, upgrade to Cry Translate Plus in the app.
I bought Plus but the app still shows the limit
Open the app and tap Restore Purchases on the upgrade screen. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you purchased with. If it still doesn't unlock, check your connection and try again, then contact us.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, not inside the app:
iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions
→ Cry Translate.
Android: Google Play → profile icon →
Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and never renews.
How do I stop sharing recordings?
In the app's settings, set the sharing mode to Never share. This stops all future donations and deletes any recordings still waiting on your device to be sent. Recordings are only ever shared when you explicitly tap the share action or submit a correction — never automatically in the background.
Note that recordings already sent are anonymous and not linked to you or your device, so they cannot be retrieved or deleted afterwards — see the Privacy Policy for details.
Is the cry interpretation always right?
No. The AI gives its best suggestion and honestly says "can't tell" when it isn't confident. Treat results as a parenting aid, not a diagnosis. If you're worried about your baby's health, contact your pediatrician.
